Improving Quality of Care and Support Services for Children and Young people living with HIV and directly affected with HIV in Rumphi District

Location: RUMPHIJuly 2018 to June 2019

Target Locations: Mlowe, Hewe, Mphomba, Lukali, Jawa and Chankhomi

This project targets children and young people living with HIV and those directly affected with HIV. It aims at improving the well-being and quality of life for young people living with HIV (YPLHIV) and those directly affected by HIV and AIDS. The project is expected to reach out to 50 children up to 9 years of age and 250 young people of between 10 to 25 years of age living with HIV and 100 children and young people who are directly affected by HIV. In total 400 children and young people living with HIV and directly affected with HIV will be targeted in the catchment areas of Mlowe, Hewe, Mphomba, Lukali, Jawa and Chankhomi in Rumphi District.

Specifically the project is to achieve the following:

  • Strengthen the uptake and retention of ART, paediatric HIV care and support and SRHR services among the children and young people living with HIV (YPLHIV) and those directly affected by HIV and AIDS.
  • Reduce stigma and discrimination against children and young people living with HIV (YPLHIV) and those directly affected by HIV and AIDS
